DVD Review

I apologize for not being more active, but not having other reviewers or books to review, it's been a little difficult. However I want to let you know about this wonderful DVD "God's Not Dead." Working at the library I found it on our shelves and took it home. When I brought it back I raved about it. I wanted to take it out again, but it seems word gets around. It's always on hold for someone else. That's great.

The opening scene is in a freshman college philosophy class. The professor states he is an atheist, and asks that if everyone will sign a paper with 3 little words on it he can dispense of the dust and get to the subject. Those 3 words are "God Is Dead." One student cannot sign that. He is given 3 chances to argue the case of the existence of God before the class.

Fueled by hate on one side and a determined love of God on the other this is not your simple movie. The poor kid researches and goes off on a journey of his own to state his case. The end is nothing short of amazing. I guess telling people stuff like this is one of the reasons I can't get a hold of it a second time. It's really that good.

Coming this March - THE CHRONICLES OF SOONE: HEIR TO THE KING

by James Somers

Coming this March 4th, THE CHRONICLES OF SOONE: HEIR TO THE KING, by James Somers. I just wanted to get this up and remind everyone of this special blogtour. Well, all our blogtours are special, but I wanted to create an anticipation for this wonderful work. I think you're going to love it. I promise not to make the same bonehead mistakes as I did with the last tour, like changing our URL in the middle of the tour. You can bank on that. All mistakes made this time will be brand new.

You're in for a real treat, for while LIGHT AT THE EDGE OF DARKNESS was an excellent book it was a compilation of short stories, powerful short stories I might add. THE CHRONICLES OF SOONE is along the same lines as some of those stories, but in booklength format. Somers does a great job. From the characters to the surroundings to the actual story itself I think you're going to find yourself pleased beyond your imagination.

Don't look for any direct allegories in this book. James Somers has chosen not to do that nor to be preachy in his style. Instead he has chosen to drive along a story of action and adventure that embody some very basic Christian teachings. You may not be aware of it as you read it, which I'm sure was his intent, but you will be learning what it means to be a Christian, to act and live as a Christian. He does this without ever bringing the topic up. Not many writers can pull this off without ruining the story. Somers not only “pulls it off” but the way he does so makes the story and even the teachings themselves seem so very natural. - David
