DVD Review

I apologize for not being more active, but not having other reviewers or books to review, it's been a little difficult. However I want to let you know about this wonderful DVD "God's Not Dead." Working at the library I found it on our shelves and took it home. When I brought it back I raved about it. I wanted to take it out again, but it seems word gets around. It's always on hold for someone else. That's great.

The opening scene is in a freshman college philosophy class. The professor states he is an atheist, and asks that if everyone will sign a paper with 3 little words on it he can dispense of the dust and get to the subject. Those 3 words are "God Is Dead." One student cannot sign that. He is given 3 chances to argue the case of the existence of God before the class.

Fueled by hate on one side and a determined love of God on the other this is not your simple movie. The poor kid researches and goes off on a journey of his own to state his case. The end is nothing short of amazing. I guess telling people stuff like this is one of the reasons I can't get a hold of it a second time. It's really that good.

In the News

Maybe not in the NY Times, the Wall Street Journal, CNN or Fox News, but it is news none the less. We are changing, growing, reaching out. I would like to share some things with you, our dear visitors, so you will find us to be more aggressive than what may appear on the surface.

First, we are looking into several different ways to increase traffic to our site and to get you involved with us. To that end, one person will receive a copy of THE OATH, by Frank Peretti, during the tour of THE VOID, by Mark Mynheir during the week of March 2nd. The winner will be announced on the 8th, Saturday of that week. I will be looking for the best comment to our blog posts on any of the CFRB blog sites. Please leave an email address where I'll be able to contact you further.

Second, I want to institute a ripple affect. That is, the main event may start here, but I want it to move outward and keep moving. Generally the CFRB members will do most of this, but I want to hear from all of you, members and non-members of CFRB. I want links to sites that have posts, interviews and reviews about Mark Mynheir and THE VOID. I have the feeling that the more people who visit, the more they may have already read somewhere else. So I'd like to provide links to those places where you've read other information. And when I do I'll extend the same invitation to those visitin that site. This should generate enough buzz to create quite a stir about his book. Furthermore, I want to do this with all the future books we tour.

Third, internally we are reorganizing so that only quality Christian fiction is portrayed. So far that's all we've had, but we want to be diligent in the accountability that is ours. We want to insure that you are introduced to the highest quality Christian fiction possible, and we want to help those authors who are trying to get their works made known do that. It would be a terrible shame to tour a poor piece of work while a truly good work is pushed aside to make room in our schedule. So, we are going to work towards assuring the reverse is true, that the quality work is presented and the poor works are pushed aside.

These are just three steps we'll be taking in the near future to make the Christian Fiction Review Blog one of the most reputable, reliable and sought after places for Christian fiction authors to have their works toured, for readers to find great works of Christian fiction and for readers and writers to join with us in our ministry to the Lord. For as we minister to each other, we minister to Jesus. As we promote these works, we promote the Gospel. That is why we are here.

Also, I want to post more often, between tours, so people visiting here will not find themselves coming upon old news. For any of you new to CFRB's blog I ask that you check out our book trailer page. There you will find a short video teaser for each of the main books we've toured. Also if you check out the Archives, the December issue, you'll find a post about all 12 months toured during that year. Enjoy, come back and tell a friend or two.

Looks like you are well organized for your upcoming tours!

That's what I'm working towards. I think we have a good solid core of people here who are looking to get fiction, in all its various genres, heard by the secular reader. Books like FLASHPOINT, THE DUKE'S HANDMAID (and NOR IRON BARS A CAGE), FAITH AWAKENED and TIME MASTERS, are just some of the books that really got to me. But books like PETTICOAT RANCH, ARMS OF DELIVERANCE get to another group of readers. That's as it should be.

As to being organized, well, I'm glad it looks that way :-) We're trying. Hopefully we'll get to a point where we can say we truly are. God bless you Robin.
