DVD Review

I apologize for not being more active, but not having other reviewers or books to review, it's been a little difficult. However I want to let you know about this wonderful DVD "God's Not Dead." Working at the library I found it on our shelves and took it home. When I brought it back I raved about it. I wanted to take it out again, but it seems word gets around. It's always on hold for someone else. That's great.

The opening scene is in a freshman college philosophy class. The professor states he is an atheist, and asks that if everyone will sign a paper with 3 little words on it he can dispense of the dust and get to the subject. Those 3 words are "God Is Dead." One student cannot sign that. He is given 3 chances to argue the case of the existence of God before the class.

Fueled by hate on one side and a determined love of God on the other this is not your simple movie. The poor kid researches and goes off on a journey of his own to state his case. The end is nothing short of amazing. I guess telling people stuff like this is one of the reasons I can't get a hold of it a second time. It's really that good.

Don't Forget!

We are in the middle of touring HIGHER HONOR, by S.M. Kirkland, a really excellent book. However, in addition to the 3 books that the author has put up for prizes don't forget there are also 2 copies of THE SHAPE OF MERCY, by Susan Meissner and one copy of FOR YOUNG MEN ONLY, by Jeff Feldhahn and Eric Rice with Shaunti Feldhahn. Given the choice I'd pick HIGHER HONOR over these other books, but hey they are free to those lucky people who ask. Who knows, you may even like them as well. I haven't read either book.

So, if you want to be in the running for these books as well as the free copies of HIGHER HONOR, you really have to let us know via comments on any of the CFRB member blogs that you are interested in these books. If you've read HIGHER HONOR tell us what you thought of it, but if not, at least comment on the review as well. Remember, points are given to those who put up a review for HIGHER HONOR on Amazon.

I have known Susan since age 11 when she was my daughter's best friend. She has written since she could put pen to paper. I have visited the military college she attended. I know she used some real life experiences to help create this book. She is a true professional evidenced by her research to make this literary work accurate. I hope when people read "Higher Honor" they will gain an inkling of the talent God has imparted to Ms. Kirkland.

Awwwww! Thanks Mommy Melanie (yes, I still call her that!). She knew me when. . .oh, wait, I won't go there.

I've known Sue through her membership with CFRB, but I think I learned more about her when I read her book. This had to be hard for her, but I'm grateful that she stuck with it. Her talent is only surpassed by her compassion for others. I pray this book will become a textbook, a must read in high schools across the U.S. I pray that kids will start to see the enormous price we have to pay for our wrong choices, and how powerful love and forgiveness can be.
