DVD Review

I apologize for not being more active, but not having other reviewers or books to review, it's been a little difficult. However I want to let you know about this wonderful DVD "God's Not Dead." Working at the library I found it on our shelves and took it home. When I brought it back I raved about it. I wanted to take it out again, but it seems word gets around. It's always on hold for someone else. That's great.

The opening scene is in a freshman college philosophy class. The professor states he is an atheist, and asks that if everyone will sign a paper with 3 little words on it he can dispense of the dust and get to the subject. Those 3 words are "God Is Dead." One student cannot sign that. He is given 3 chances to argue the case of the existence of God before the class.

Fueled by hate on one side and a determined love of God on the other this is not your simple movie. The poor kid researches and goes off on a journey of his own to state his case. The end is nothing short of amazing. I guess telling people stuff like this is one of the reasons I can't get a hold of it a second time. It's really that good.

LEAPS OF FAITH, compiled by Rob and Karina Fabian

LEAPS OF FAITH, by Rob and Karina Fabian is an anthology of faith in action, and in science fiction. We are treating this as a Tag Team Tour, meaning you will find much more on other sites. Each day I'll begin with a short blurb of a different story in this anthology. So, like the game of Tag, you, the reader are hereby tagged. The CFRB sites that will have reviews, interviews and other great posts are linked to their blogs using the ingenious buttons at the bottom of the page. See if you can find who is posting today. Word of caution. Some people post more than once.
Saturday. “Sometimes We Lie”, by Barton Levenson, is about an ancient culture where a member of a high class rebels against his training and begins living the life taught him by Christians. This is one of the best in this anthology. Arguably there are several in this book that are equally well written, but personally I liked this one. ‘In “Sometimes We Lie,” evangelism takes a bizarre turn when a native born being tries to spread an ancient human faith.’ Talk about bizarre. Here we find an alien doing what is not allowed, treat others with compassion and kindness. His actions are based on his contact with Christians. The power that flowed through these simple people, people of less status and intelligence that he and his elite, changed him forever. This is how we should be. The light of Jesus should shine in us so brightly that any who come in contact with us also come in contact with the Almighty. This story sums it all up, the choice, the change, the challenge, and the sometimes chilling end.

By the way, I know of at least one of these sites that will be having multiple posts, including a live interview with the compilers of this anthology. I'm not going to tell you who it is. You're going to have to find that out for yourself. After all, this is a game of Tag.
