DVD Review

I apologize for not being more active, but not having other reviewers or books to review, it's been a little difficult. However I want to let you know about this wonderful DVD "God's Not Dead." Working at the library I found it on our shelves and took it home. When I brought it back I raved about it. I wanted to take it out again, but it seems word gets around. It's always on hold for someone else. That's great.

The opening scene is in a freshman college philosophy class. The professor states he is an atheist, and asks that if everyone will sign a paper with 3 little words on it he can dispense of the dust and get to the subject. Those 3 words are "God Is Dead." One student cannot sign that. He is given 3 chances to argue the case of the existence of God before the class.

Fueled by hate on one side and a determined love of God on the other this is not your simple movie. The poor kid researches and goes off on a journey of his own to state his case. The end is nothing short of amazing. I guess telling people stuff like this is one of the reasons I can't get a hold of it a second time. It's really that good.

ERETZEL, by Willam McGrath

CFRB welcomes you once again to their site for this month's Tag Team Tour. This month we tour ERETZEL, by William McGrath. A tag team tour means that something will be posted every day during the week of March 1st, but it's up to you to find those posts. To help you out we've listed a number of button links at the bottom of this post to help get you around. You may get to a site early and find them posting on something else, which is fine. Take a look around. You might just like what you see. You may even find that more than one site is posting on some days. If you're real lucky you'll stumble across both a review and an interview. The idea is to get you to do the searching. You'll be glad you did.

ERETZEL, by William McGrath - Kings and a Queen. Emperor Antiochus has moved his seat of power from Logres to Rema and is widening and strengthening his empire. He cultivates different rulers to fill a 10 way split among them. What is interesting to notice is how Antiochus choses some people because of the way they will not just fit in his plans, but ultimately fail. One interesting ruler is a woman named Rhiannon, High Priestess of Erie. Rhiannon is a woman who is proud and filled with every bitterness towards men. Antiochus uses this to get her to do his bidding. She is made Queen Rhiannon, and led to believe she will be able to raise up the women of society above that of men. Then there is a dwarf, a Lucius Orbillius Pupillus. This man is a teacher. On the one hand he has recruited a woman who will, unknowingly, place all women under him, while on the other hand is a man who will teach the younger people to question everything, to refuse absolutes, and thus become pliable in the hands of Antiochus. It should be realized that all these kings an queens are expendable. They are for his good only. When they have lived out their usefulness then he will end their services.

In the Book of Daniel we are told of a 10 nation confederacy that will be ruled by 10 kings. This is what it says in Daniel 7:7,8, "After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things." The anti-Christ will come up as a little horn or ruler among the 10 who rule the earth, is apparently what it is saying. Yet he will grow in power and as he does, displace 3 of the original rulers. Keep watching and see if this isn't exactly what Antiochus does. Yet we should not fear, as many shall, for in verse 9 Daniel says, "I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire." In otherwords, while these things must come about, Jesus will crush them and destroy even the very thrones they sat upon when He returns. Our hope is not found in the daily newspapers or TV news coverage, but in Jesus alone. In Him we live and breath and have our being. In Him do we trust and are not ashamed.
