DVD Review

I apologize for not being more active, but not having other reviewers or books to review, it's been a little difficult. However I want to let you know about this wonderful DVD "God's Not Dead." Working at the library I found it on our shelves and took it home. When I brought it back I raved about it. I wanted to take it out again, but it seems word gets around. It's always on hold for someone else. That's great.

The opening scene is in a freshman college philosophy class. The professor states he is an atheist, and asks that if everyone will sign a paper with 3 little words on it he can dispense of the dust and get to the subject. Those 3 words are "God Is Dead." One student cannot sign that. He is given 3 chances to argue the case of the existence of God before the class.

Fueled by hate on one side and a determined love of God on the other this is not your simple movie. The poor kid researches and goes off on a journey of his own to state his case. The end is nothing short of amazing. I guess telling people stuff like this is one of the reasons I can't get a hold of it a second time. It's really that good.

Day of Prayer

The first Sunday of every month is a special day of prayer for those of us at CFRB because it's when we set the day aside to pray for the upcoming book tour. This week we will be praying for the tour of RABBIT: CHASING BETH RIDER, by Ellen C. Maze. For all of you who trust in the Lord we ask that you would join in with us on this special day of prayer. We ask that you would pray for us, for the author and her work, and that you would pray for one another. We ask that you would pray that the Gospel of Jesus Christ would be made real to many people this week, and you don't need to wait for the tour to do that. You can show someone the love of Jesus Christ and share with them what God has done for you. That is the most important thing you can do. If you do not know Jesus then the most important thing you can do is get to know Him. If you can't find someone to share with you about Him feel free to talk to any of the members here. We will be more than happy to share with you about our Lord and Savior.

Dear Heavenly Father,
we come before You in the precious name of Your Son Jesus,
and ask that the precious Gospel that You gave to us through Him
might be made clear to the minds and hearts of all who read these reviews and Ellen's work,
but more we pray that they will look into what Your Word says,
that they might know,
beyond a shadow of a doubt,
that You alone are God,
and that You alone offer eternal life through the sacrifice of Your Son.
For Jesus has died in place of each of us,
taking our sins and putting them to death
that we would no longer come under condemnation in Your presence.
We all need to know not only this,
but that we must accept this precious gift in order to have it applied to us.
May the Holy Spirit use our simple talents and those of Ellen Maze
that light might shine in dark places
and there would be an awakening in the hearts and minds of all people.
We ask this in the name of Your son, Jesus,
may He be lifted up so that He might draw all people to Him,
to Your family.
Amen
